Orpheline, la jeune Yvette vit de ferme en
ferme jusqu'à son adoption, en 1942, par un
couple d'intellectuels parisiens. Du jour au
lendemain, la petite paysanne côtoie Picasso,
Braque, Bataille, Char. Pendant l'Occupation,
c'est Éluard, caché dans le grenier, qui lui
raconte des histoires. Elle découvre aussi,
interloquée, le comportement extravagant,
parfois cruel, de ces grands artistes...
