This book is a poignant evocation of the people, land and traditions of Vietnam, by award-winning American photographer Peter Steinhauer. His magnificent landscapes and subtle portraits reveal the diversity and breath-taking beauty of a country whose political history has at times obscured its wonders: For many people, Vietnam is the name of a war. This book is an attempt to look beyond the bloodshed and the scars of war, to capture the living traces of an ancient culture.
Steinhauer's vision of Vietnam, presented here, ist the product of seven and a half years of total immersion in Vietnamese life. His photographs, his personal response to the Vietnamese culture, penetrate to the heart of modern Vietnam.
