Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus and platelet adhesion - Platelet Adhesiveness as a risk factor of Cardiovascular Diseases in Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus

Platelet alterations in diabetes in general are similar to those seen in non-diabetic patients with atherothrombic diseases so it is not clear whether these platelet alterations are due to Diabetes Mellitus or as a consequence of vascular disease. The predictive relation between Diabetes Mellitus and platelets was observed in association with CVD and CBD. A sample based study including 100 Diabetic patients was carried out in Gujrat, out of which 59 were suffering from CVD and 12 had CBD. Among the subjects 50% patients had high blood platelet count. A significant (p0.05) higher BP, BMI and Hypertension was found in Diabetic patients of both sexes.
