This is another spy thriller from former BBC journalist Peter Marshall in which the secret services of Russia and the West pit their wits against each other in the murky world of international espionage – and the events in the story also provide a now too familiar portent of current events. In "The Russian Bear's Revenge" the key operators in Russia's GUR agency have become frustrated by the successes of America's CIA and the UK's MI5/MI6, and they set out on a four-point plan of reprisals. The 'spooks' involved include the Russian "Lieutenant" Nikolai Aldanov and the British-American "Samantha" (first introduced in the previous stories) and the violent action moves swiftly between Tokyo, Moscow, London and Washington DC – with an unexpected romance and finally ending dramatically in Scotland!
The author was a journalist and editor with the BBC and its international offshoot Visnews for many years, before moving to the USA to work on the development of satellite services for the international TV market. His global travel experiences provide the background for the 20 books he has written and edited in his retirement, including the previous spy thrillers – "The Russian Lieutenant", "Beyond the Funeral" and "There are No Coincidences.
