EDO2000wasthesecondinternationalworkshoponsoftwareengineeringfor distributedobjectsystems. EDO2000wasacontinuationofEDO 99,the?rst workshopinthisseries,whichwasheldinconjunctionwithICSE 99. Distributedobjecttechnologies asexempli?edbyCORBAandtheCORBA Services,COM+,EJB,andtheJ2EE areincreasinglybeingadoptedbyvarious enterprisesasafundamentaltechnologyfortheirITinfrastructures. Asacon- quence,extensiveindustrypracticeofusingthetechnologiesisbeinggained. At thesametime,thetechnologiescontinuetoadvanceandnewfunctionalityand servicescontinuetobeintroduced. Inordertousetheexistingandemergingfunctionsofdistributedobjectte- nologiese?ectively,andtobettermeettoday sdemandingbusinessandcomp- ingrequirements,advancesinsoftwareengineeringmethodsandtechniquesfor distributedobjectsarestronglyneeded. Softwareengineeringfordistributed- jectsistheresearchareathatprovidessolutionsofprovenpracticeforissuesand problemsthatareuniquetosystemsemployingdistributedobjecttechnologies. EDOis the premierworkshopthatbringstogetherthe researchandpractice communityofsoftwareengineeringfordistributedobjects. Wereceivedabout30submissionsandtheinternationalprogramcommittee selected15papers. Weclusteredacceptedpapersintosessionsandtheauthors ofthesepaperschampionedthesessionsandtookaleadinthediscussions. The workshoporganizersselectedparticularauthorstogivebriefpresentationsthat wereaimedtokicko?thediscussionineachsession. Theresultofthedi?erent sessionswassummarizedattheendoftheworkshopandthesesessionsummaries areincludedintheseproceedings. Alsointraditionwiththeworkshopseries,wehadaninvitedindustrialp- sentation. Über den Autor / die Autorin
Wolfgang Emmerich, geboren 1941 in Chemnitz/Sachsen, ist seit 1978 Professor für Neuere deutsche Literatur- und Kulturgeschichte an der Universität Bremen. Studium der Germanistik, Geschichte und Philosophie. Lehrte seit 1968 an Universitäten in den USA und an der Universität Tübingen. Später mehrere Gastprofessuren in den USA, in Paris, in Turin und in Oxford.
