Se l'amor paterno non m'ingannò, mi parve che il racconto del di lui viaggio contenesse qualche cosa di utile e fu perciò che io mi son deciso a darlo alla luce; lungi però dal pretendere di far cosa, che porti utilità alle scienze od alle lettere, io non intendo che rendere più comune la conoscenza della storia e dello stato presente di quei luoghi, che dai più si sconoscono e dei quali ogni cristiano dovrebbe essere informato.
