The book introduces basic concepts and examples of research into climate issues to achieve and preserve good thermal comfort conditions in urban spaces. It describes some examples of urban design and green areas in various cities around the world and reports on the importance of using indicators for urban planning. The city of São Paulo, more specifically the central core, was the object of study, made up of thirteen districts. Today it is administered by the Sé Sub-Prefecture, which includes the districts of Bom Retiro, Cambuci, Bela Vista, Sé, República, Liberdade and Santa Cecília, and by the Mooca Sub-Prefecture with the districts of Brás, Pari and Mooca. The challenge is to insert a set of variables that relate indicators of land use and occupation, green areas and the heat island that has an impact on the urban environment. It describes and analyses in detail the districts that make up the central area of São Paulo with the help of thematic maps and data tables, until concluding through the evaluation of indicators the current environmental conditions, according to the author's perception.

Urbanista con un dottorato presso la Scuola di Ingegneria di São Carlos (EESC) e un post-dottorato in Geografia, il suo lavoro nella pianificazione urbana sta diventando sempre più essenziale attraverso l'uso di metodologie e modelli che aiutano la pianificazione urbana. L'architetto lavora anche come consulente e docente universitario.
