Description
Planning and Management for Sustainable Water Resources and Infrastructure under Climate Change explores the critical intersection of climate change, and sustainable water resources and infrastructure. With a diverse range of chapters covering topics from public participation and water governance to smart technologies, it provides a holistic understanding of the current concerns, core challenges, and innovative solutions surrounding water infrastructure and resilience. The book offers necessary information on current approaches for adaptation and mitigation strategies including but not limited to AI, IoT, and remote sensing. The implications of climate change for agriculture and aquaculture, the complexities of water and climate change governance, and the pressing issues of droughts, seawater intrusion, and intermittent water supply are discussed. It also examines various impacts of climate change on water resources and infrastructure with real-world case studies around the globe. By addressing these multifaceted topics, the book equips readers with the knowledge and strategies to navigate the evolving issues of water management in the face of a changing climate.

About the author
Kourosh Behzadian is a Professor of Smart Infrastructure and Course Leader of BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering and MSc Civil Engineering at the University of West London. He is Fellow of ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers), Fellow of CIWEM (Chartered Institution of Water & Environmental Management) and has (co)authored approximately 200 peer-reviewed journal papers, conference papers, and technical reports, and is currently Editor of Sustainable Environment, Taylor & Francis Group, Editorial Panel for Proceedings of the ICE, Municipal Engineer. He has supervised many postgraduate students in the fields of water and civil engineering.
Ahmad Ferdowsi has been teaching civil engineering and water-related courses as a lecturer at the University of Applied Science and Technology (Tehran, Iran) since 2021. He also has an active role in water-based communities, i.e., he was the secretary of the Young Members Committee of the Iranian Hydraulic Association for 3 years. His publications include a book, 4 book chapters, and 15 journal and conference papers.Babak Zolghadr-Asli is deeply engaged in advancing research at the intersection of computational and artificial intelligence, specifically focusing on optimization, data mining, and machine learning. His primary objective is to apply these technologies to address challenges in sustainable water resource management, including the potential impacts of climate change. By integrating cutting-edge AI techniques into decision-making paradigms, he aims to establish robust frameworks capable of addressing economic, environmental, and technical aspects of water engineering, thereby illuminating the role of water in the energy-water-food nexus.
Currently, as a joint researcher under the QUEX program, Babak works collaboratively at the Sustainable Minerals Institute, The University of Queensland, Australia, and The Centre for Water Systems (CWS), The University of Exeter, UK. A prolific author, he has penned two books, one published by John Wiley & Sons and another by CRC Press. Additionally, he served as the editor for another book published by Springer. In total, to this day, Babak has contributed to over 50 scientific works, showcasing his significant impact on the field.
