Untreated effluents from dyeing industries have adverse effects on water bodies causing rapid depletion of the dissolved oxygen of the receiving streams. The effluent should not be discharge to the adjacent canal water body unless it undergoes proper treatment. Facility should plan to discharge the effluent to the adjacent canal after proper treatment if the plant management goes by their positive intention. According to the Bangladesh Environmental Conservation Rules 1997 followed by Bangladesh Environmental Conservation Act 1995, textile industry falls in Red category and if water use for production purpose, effluent treatment plant (ETP) is mandatory for textile industries
