The presence of multinational corporations in conflict affected states has often been a focal point of discussion. The extractive industry in particular has long had a reputation of not doing enough for local communities in the aftermath of violent conflict. Yet the opposite perspective states that major oil companies contribute to the economic recovery of war-torn societies. This study therefore critically examines the role of international oil companies during the phase of post conflict rreconstruction of countries plagued by violent conflict or devastated by years of civil war.

About the author

Being an International Relations graduate I am passionate about multilateral cooperation and about the interaction of governments with civil society. Resulting from my military background I focus particularly on international security issues. Hence writing about the role of multinationals in conflict-torn states was a perfect choice.
