However due to the current concern of climate change, the application of Biodegradable and compostablity of materials for packaging fresh and processed products is even more crucial. The application of the MAP technology has been practiced over the years but the use of the biodegradable MAPs is largely found in the developed nations. This study has provided an in depth analysis of the compostability of packaging materials as well as the applications of these films on food crops grown in Africa. This piece of work will be beneficial for the fresh produce and the food service sectors, research organizations, students and handlers of perishable commodities and house hold storage of food commodities

About the author










Mr. Adams Abdul-Rahaman is a former Head of the Agricultural Engineering Department of Wa Polytechnic in Ghana (2012-2014). He specialized in Postharvest Technology at the University of Essex (UK), graduating in 2008. His research interests are focused on perishable fruits and vegetable cooling, storage and packaging technologies.
