Ever since Ray hatched out of his egg on the farm, all he wanted to do was sing. He sang whatever the weather and no matter the time! 

But the farm is too small for Ray’s big dreams. He sets off for the Big City to be just like his favourite singer, Fred Stellar. With a little encouragement from his hen family, Ray knows he can do it – even if he feels nervous.

Simona Massa is an Italian-born visual storyteller based in the UK. Originally from Naples, she studied graphic design in Rome before moving to London, where she worked in branding for over a decade. She decided to pursue a career as a children’s author and illustrator, and studied on the Children’s Book Illustration MA at Cambridge School of Art, graduating with a distinction. Simona was named the New Talent winner of the World Illustration Award in the Children’s Publishing category in 2023, and a finalist in the 61st edition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair exhibition.
