Informationen zum Autor Mick Middles has been writing about popular music since the early eighties, having been a contributor to Sounds magazine and a regular rock and pop reviewer for the Evening News in his home town of Manchester. He has written extensively about the Manchester music scene and the Factory label, and biographies of Ian Curtis, the Stone Roses and Elbow, all published by Omnibus Press. Klappentext Formed in Boston in 2001, Arcade Fire quickly relocated to Montreal and started performing in art galleries and lofts while hoping for a record deal. The early line-up quickly changed following rifts, first between co-founder Win Butler and Myles Broscoe, then between Butler and Brendan Reed. Broscoe and Reed departed and the ensemble that finally signed with Merge Records discovered strength and creativity. Arcade Fire's sensational 2004 début album Funeral launched the alternative indie band on an international career that has seen it carve a successful niche in contemporary rock.Their story is compelling - a complex musical collaboration in an eight-piece band that has coalesced around Win Butler and Régine Chassagne. They have triumphed worldwide at festivals and stadiums while racking up three award-winning albums: Funeral, Neon Bible and The Suburbs. There has never been a band quite like Arcade Fire. This is the story of a truly fascinating band whose music has always triumphed over the trappings of success. Zusammenfassung This book looks beyond the triumphs that gather in their story! to discover a band who are determine to retain the pure yet complex personal dynamic that always set them apart.
