"Metamorphoses" est praeclarum carmen epicum a Publio Ovidio Nasone compositum, quod seriem mutationum mythologicarum a mundi origine usque ad Caesaris apotheosin enarrat. In hoc opere, Ovidius variis fabulis utitur ad explicandum quomodo corpora in novas formas mutentur, nectens deos, nymphas, et heroas in textum continuum et ingeniosum. Hoc primum volumen lectori initia rerum proponit, a Chao usque ad aetates mundi et diluvium, deinde ad fabulas Daphnes, Io, et Phaethontis progreditur. Per versus hexametros, auctor naturam amoris, potentiae divinae, et fragilitatis humanae summa elegantia investigat. "Metamorphoses" non solum est thesaurus mythologiae Graeco-Romanae, sed etiam fundamentum litterarum occidentalium, quod scriptores et artifices per duo milia annorum incitavit. Opus restat quasi speculum aeternum naturae mutabilis et fati humani.
