Jack Wetzel returns to his hometown in New Mexico anticipating that he will find peace in the wilderness. As a Wilderness Ranger for the U.S. Forest Service, he is looking to escape the inhumanities and horrors of war with the neutrality found in nature.


But his best friend is now missing in action in the war. In Wetzel's efforts to support his friend's family, he falls in love with the wife and develops a friendship with her four-year old son. When the young boy is kidnapped by a trained assassin, Wetzel is called upon to track the killer and retrieve the boy unharmed.
