Georgia Boone thought she understood survival in a post-apocalyptic world: life alone on her Appalachian family farm, careful routines, and the constant threat of Bloodmouths haunting the treeline. Trust is scarce, allies even scarcer, but Georgia has made it work... until a mishap at the river tears her world apart.
Presumed dead and swept from everything she knew, Georgia wakes inside a sterile pod with a truth she never imagined: the life she lived was never real. According to the scientists surrounding her, it was all part of a controlled simulation designed to test human resilience.
Thrown back into the fractured new reality, Georgia finds herself aligned with a ragtag group: Knox, the soft-spoken sunshine with a talent for easing tension; Cal, the fiercely protective backwoods fighter; and Juno, Cal's sharp-eyed, intuitive sister. But as they navigate hostile terrain and unravel half-truths, the unsettling sense grows that the four of them are connected in ways none of them understand.
As enemies close in and buried memories claw their way to the surface, one thing becomes clear:
They're not just surviving an experiment.
They're beginning to break it.
Fast-paced and filled with gripping twists, Untethered is a story of identity, rebellion, and the fight to reclaim your own reality before it collapses around you.
Info autore
Haley DeVore is a multi-genre author who resides in Southeast Ohio with her tortie cat, Leia. She loves to write wild, mysterious, science fiction, or speculative stories like the one in your hands. However, she also is a sucker for a good romance story. She prides herself on speaking on serious issues in her writing while also making the lines seem conversational or sarcastic in nature, as they would if the characters woven into the worlds were real in these situations. She's also extremely passionate about where she's from, the foothills of Appalachia, and you'll see many themes, quirks, and settings from her stories are based on this area in her work. Her family is from deep in the Appalachian region of West Virginia and Tennessee, and many of the things they do and the way they live are based on customs, ideas, stories, and traditions of the area. She loves to breathe those traditions and ideas into the characters she puts on paper. She loves being outside and, when the weather is warm, enjoys camping, kayaking, and exploring state and national parks. Other things she enjoys doing when not writing is playing guitar, going to concerts, traveling, and doing all things involved in fandom (like conventions and cosplay!). Untethered is her debut novel.
