When Paco was a young boy, his father captivated him with tales of a hidden sanctuary teeming with mammoths, sabretooth tigers and cave lions. On his eighteenth birthday, he learns the unbelievable truth: the Sanctuary is real, and he's the heir to its legacy. Uprooted from his hometown, Paco is thrown into this unforgiving wilderness, and must prove himself to the tribe he will one day command. Life here is treacherous, but when truths unearth about his mother, father and the past he thought he knew, he is pushed beyond what he can bear. Resentful and alone, he returns to his old life - and makes a fateful mistake. Suddenly, everyone he cares about is pulled into the crosshairs of a ruthless criminal syndicate that even the US government dare not contest: the Huntsmen.

Christopher Tanser was born in South Africa in 2001. He was educated at Mtunzini Primary School and Grantleigh College, and later at the University of Lincoln, where he earned a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Zoology. Thereafter, he worked in the Greater Kruger as a game ranger and field guide, where he acquired bushcraft and master tracking skills. His debut novel, The Beasts of Old, is the marriage of his two greatest passions: wildlife and writing.
