Morton Rhue, der eigentlich Todd Strasser heißt, wurde am 5. Mai 1950 auf Long Island, New York, geboren und wuchs auch dort auf. Als junger Mann reiste er durch die USA und Europa und verdiente sich sein Geld z. B. als Schiffssteward und Straßenmusiker.§Nach dem Studium arbeitete er einige Jahre als Zeitungsreporter und Werbetexter.§Schließlich entschloss sich Morton Rhue dazu, das Schreiben von Büchern zu seinem Hauptberuf zu machen. Seitdem hat er eine große Menge von Romanen und Kurzgeschichten verfasst - in Amerika gehört er zu den bekanntesten Kinder- und Jugendbuchautoren.§Sein in Deutschland berühmtestes Buch ist "Die Welle", das seit Jahrzehnten zur Schullektüre gehört und das vielfach ausgezeichnet wurde.§Morton Rhue lebt nach wie vor in New York. Seine Hobbys sind Angeln, Skifahren und Surfen. Über seine Bücher sagt er: "Gute Jugendliteratur soll dem Leser helfen richtige Entscheidungen zu treffen."
