Awakening Is Not for the Faint of Heart is a raw, soul-stirring journey into what it truly means to awaken - to yourself, to truth, and to the fierce, transformative power of love. With unflinching honesty and poetic insight, this book invites you to strip away the illusions that keep you safe but small, and step boldly into the vulnerability that leads to real freedom. It's not easy. It's not tidy. But it is everything. We are perpetual students of life; and love has "our back" no matter what. If you're ready to risk comfort for connection, fear for freedom, and numbness for radical aliveness, this is your call to courage.

In 2022, like many people all over the world, Beth Miller contracted Covid. In the months to come, as the illness settled in to stay, she was forced to surrender to it in body and spirit. By entering the unknown and slowly embracing illness as her teacher, she found peace amidst the turmoil of a chronic illness and layers of past trauma, ultimately becoming more fully alive (than she had ever been). In this heartfelt, profound, and poignant memoir Beth Miller generously shares with us how to "become comfortable with the uncomfortable" and trust in the mystery of life.

"Diving courageously into her devotion to "know thyself" -Dorothy S. Hunt - Author of Ending the Search: From Spiritual Ambition to the Heart of Awareness, Only This!, Leaves from Moon Mountain.

"Full of hard-earned embodied heart" -Susanne Marie - Spiritual Teacher & Writer

"Reading this book was like slipping into a pool of presence" -Dona Tversky, MD MPH - Stanford Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences

"In this wise, poignant, and soulful little book" -John Prendergast, Ph.D., author of Your Deepest Ground, The Deep Heart, and In Touch.

Info autore

Beth Miller has been practicing psychology for over 30 years. She had a long-standing private practice and taught at the University of San Francisco Medical Center, Stanford University, and California Institute of Integral Studies. For 25 years she gave seminars, talks and workshops on cultivating resilience. After retiring she continued working with people who are ready to embody the open-ended discoveries of their true nature with their humanity. Knowing psychology and the visceral reality of our true nature allows her to help folks unknot their conditioning and live inside a greater consciousness. It is through deep acceptance, non-judgmental, open-hearted spaciousness and compassion that people remember their wholeness, remember their true home. Her background in studying resilience - why some appear innately resilient and others are crushed by life - set the stage for the bigger question: what allows us to unconditionally love, no matter the circumstances of our lives? The question, ultimately, opened her to a profound shift in consciousness . . . awareness of our true nature of pure Presence. Over the years this shift has become more and more embodied, a marvel in and of itself. A marvel to be consciously alive and present to life as it is.
