This book traces the history, sociolinguistics and structure of world Englishes and examines the complexities of English(es) and the transmedia narratives of their users in modern-day international universities and workplaces. Howard Manns is a Lecturer in Linguistics at Monash University, Australia, where he coordinates the Master of Applied Linguistics and Undergraduate Indonesian Studies. He has an extensive professional background in applied linguistics, including work as a military linguist (Iranian languages) supporting the US Navy and British Royal Navy in the Persian Gulf region, and as an English teacher in China, Indonesia, and Thailand.
Zhichang Xu is a Senior Lecturer in Linguistics in the Faculty of Arts, Monash University, Australia. He has a disciplinary background in Applied Linguistics and Intercultural Education. He has extensive research and teaching experiences in Beijing, Perth, Hong Kong, and Melbourne.
