This book first surveys the relevant research progress of major institutions, organizations, projects and companies engaged in 6G research around the world, then comprehensively defines 6G from the perspectives of driving forces, vision, requirements, spectrum and technical characteristics, illustrating a complete picture of an end-to-end 6G mobile network with integration of communication, sensing, AI, data and security. The most promising technologies are presented, including distributed multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO), Reflective Intelligent Surface (RIS), AI-enabled air interface, advanced full-duplex, OTFS, integration of communication and sensing, back-scatter communication, space-air-ground integration and ICDT converged network architecture.

Dr. Guangyi Liu, Chief Scientist of 6G in China Mobile Communication Corporation (CMCC), Chief Scientist of Zong Guan Cun Institute of ubiquitous-X innovation and application (X-NET), founding member and co-chair of the 6G Alliance of Network AI (6GANA)¿Vice chair of THz industry alliance in China, vice chair of the wireless technology working group and trial & test working group of IMT-2030 (6G) promotion group of Ministry of Information and Industry Technology of China. He is leading the 6G R&D of CMCC since 2018. During 2014~2020, he led the research, standardization and industrialization 5G in CMCC; During 2006~2016, he led the research, standardization and industrialization of 4G's evolution in CMCC. He had acted as spectrum working group chair and project coordinator of LTE evolution and 5G eMBB in Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) from 2013~2020 and led the industrialization and globalization of TD-LTE evolution and 5G eMBB. He also serves as the voting member of emerging technology committee of IEEE ComSoc and associate technical editor of IEEE Communication Magazine. He was awarded "national innovation award in science and technology of 2016" of Chinese government due to the contribution to TD-LTE standardization and industrialization globally. In 2009, 2013 and 2017, he received "excellent patent awards" from the Chinese Intellectual property office. He has published more than 150 papers and filed more than 500 patents.
