Knowledge of the living towards an ethical end

The relentless quest for knowledge is not exclusively a philosophical undertaking. All scientific activities are imbued with this approach. Philosophy has traditionally been confused with Aristotelian astonishment, but when the thinking man realized its pervasiveness in the other sciences, he understood that philosophical knowledge was not simply theoretical knowledge, but, through the intermediary of the sciences, progressively achieved its ethical ends. Knowledge of the living then moves from a metaphysical to a scientific approach.
