When they meet in New York in 1925, Henry Murray is an ambitious Harvard doctor married to a wealthy Boston heiress, and Christiana Morgan is a tempestuous art student and wife of a war veteran. Drawn by a force beyond them, the two travel to Switzerland to be analyzed by Carl Gustav Jung, who plunges Christiana into deep states of trance.
