Zusatztext 'Clark and Little are to be congratulated on accomplishing brilliantly the difficult task of bringing together an edited work which contains considerable diversity and yet works as a coherent whole' Progress in Human Geography, 23,1 1999 Informationen zum Autor Paul Cloke is Professor in the department of Geography at the University of Bristol. Jo Little is Lecturer in the department of Geography at the University of Exeter. Klappentext This book examines the 'other' side of the countryside, a place also inhabited (and visited) by women, children, teenagers, the elderly, gay men and lesbians, black and ethnic minorities, the unemployed and the poor. These groups have remained largely excluded by both rural policies and the representations of rural culture. The book charts the experiences of these marginalised groups and sets this exploration within the context of postmodern, poststructuralist, postcolonial and late feminist analysis. This theoretical framework reveals how notions of the rural have been created to reflect and reinforce divisions amongst those living in the countryside. Zusammenfassung This book charts the experiences of marginalised groups living in (and visiting) the countryside, revealing how notions of the rural have been created to reflect and reinforce divisions among those living there.
