The European Journal of Applied Linguistics and TEFL is a refereed academic publication which aims to disseminate information, knowledge and expertise in the broad area of applied linguistics. Strong preference is given to contributions relating to second language acquisition, EFL pedagogy, teacher training and classroom innovation. This special issue is devoted to the theme of Sociocultural Theory in Teacher Education and Development and consists of ten articles presenting the latest theoretical deliberations, research and scholarship from the United States, New Zealand, Japan, Russia, Chile and Mexico, and covers important topics in the field, including, but not limited to: praxis-oriented pedagogy and the development of L2 novice teacher expertise - perezhivanie and experiencing in language teacher development - mirrored behaviours of language teacher candidates and teacher educators - developing and enacting professional pedagogical responsibility - embodiment in language teacher education - incidental mediational spaces in the wild - enhancing EFL teacher trainees' cognition.
