It is increasingly called for researchers to collaborate with the surrounding community. But what does it mean to collaborate? Is it always preferable? Does collaboration - or perhaps even threat - promote collaboration in the production of knowledge in society? This collection of essays highlights how knowledge is understood and created in the boundary between academia and practice. In this borderland, a battle for knowledge is taking place - a struggle that is often colored by simplified images of the researcher who are either isolated in an ivory tower or mingling in the market square. The struggle raises questions about the view of knowledge and the role of the researcher in society. The authors of the book¿s thirteen essays are humanists and social scientists. Each essay is reflected in a drawn image that aims to stimulate further thoughts and reflections on what the battle for knowledge is about.
