Made in Yugoslavia: Studies in Popular Music serves as a comprehensive and thorough introduction to the history, sociology, and musicology of popular music in Yugoslavia and the post-Yugoslav region across the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The book consists of chapters by leading scholars and covers the major figures, styles, and social contexts of music in the region that for most of the past century was known as Yugoslavia. Danijela S. Beard is Associate Lecturer in Music at Cardiff University, UK. She was previously a lecturer in Music at Nottingham University and an Early Career Fellow at the Institute of Musical Research (Royal Holloway, University of London).
Ljerka V. Rasmussen holds a PhD in ethnomusicology from Wesleyan University and is on the faculty of music at Tennessee State University, USA. She is the author of Newly Composed Folk Music of Yugoslavia.
