The volume presents the materials, contributions, and debatted issues of the four didactic sections of the 19. International Congress of Historians in Oslo, 2000.
The themes of this volume are: 1. The Teaching of Controversial History for the Global Society. New Techniques, Textbooks and the Place of History in the Curriculum. 2. From Local History to World History. 3. How Do We Get Along with History? 4. History as a Social Memory for the Horizon of Future. The main idea is the responsibility of the historian and the history teacher.
Der Sammelband enthält die wesentlichen Materialien, Beiträge und Diskussionsimpulse der vier geschichtsdidaktischen Sektionen des 19. Internationalen Historikerkongresses in Oslo, 2000.
Themen des Bandes lauten: 1. Kontroverse Perspektiven im Geschichtsunterricht einer sich globalisierenden Gesellschaft. Neue Methoden, Lehrbücher und die Stellung des Faches Geschichte in den Curricula. 2. Von der Regionalgeschichte zur Weltgeschichte. 3. Wie gehen wir mit Geschichte um? 4. Geschichte als kollektives Gedächtnis im Ausschreiten auf die Zukunft. Das Hauptanliegen ist die Verantwortlichkeit der Historiker und Geschichtsdidaktiker und -lehrer.

The Editors/Die Herausgeber: The editors and contributors are members of the Internationalen Gesellschaft für Geschichtsdidaktik. They are all committed to research in the field of didactic of history and are engaged in educating future teachers of history. The common point of their interest is the international scientific cooperation.
Karl Pellens is longtime chair-person of the Internationalen Gesellschaft für Geschichtsdidaktik and coeditor of the Jahrbuch and the Mitteilungen of the association. He has held a professorship at the Pädagogische Hochschule Weingarten.
Die Herausgeber und Autoren sind Mitglieder der Internationalen Gesellschaft für Geschichtsdidaktik, d.h. dass sie an Universitäten und Hochschulen in der geschichtsdidaktischen Forschung und in der Geschichtslehrerbildung tätig und an internationaler wissenschaftlicher Kooperation orientiert sind.
Karl Pellens ist langjähriger Vorsitzender der Internationalen Gesellschaft für Geschichtsdidaktik und Mitherausgeber der Mitteilungen bzw. des Jahrbuchs dieser Gesellschaft und war Professor an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Weingarten.
