Inversion in Modern Written English Syntactic Complexity, Information Status and the Creative Writer

The term "Estuary Englich" (EE) was coined by David Rosewarne in 1984. According to Rosewarne, EE ist a phonetically and socially intermediate accent on the south-eastern accent continuum between Cockney and RP.
This book is such a systematic study aiming at describing and explaining EE. It also contains a section exploring possible explanations - both socio-historical ab system-internal - for the rise and shape of the sociolinguistic situation in south-eastern England today.

Rolf Kreyer, born in 1973, studied English Language and Literature, Mathematics and Pedagogy in Bonn and Lampeter (Wales). He holds the Chair of English Linguistics at the University of Marburg (Germany). His main research interests are syntax, corpus linguistics, text linguistics and cognitive linguistics.
