Description

En savoir plus

Road traffic crashes (RTCs) are the leading cause of premature deaths and disabilities among children globally.Traffic injuries can place considerable physical and psychological disturbances on the accident survivor and family. These may impede the child's growth and development, culminating in poor quality of life.Children are totally dependent on parents/caregivers for their mobility needs. In this light, the upsurge in family car ownership in developing countries, coupled with occupant fatalities raises lots of concerns, given that unrestrained child passengers in unsuitable seats risk injuries in the event of a RTC.However, data to inform decisions on safety interventions and improvement in child safety are rarely collected. This book presents an extensive literature review on child safety globally and analysis of child passenger safety delivery in a typical developing country. The analysis sheds light on challenges peculiar to child passengers in developing countries. This book is therefore an invaluable source of information for road safety professionals, academicians,non-governmental organizations and students with huge interest in promoting road safety in developing countries.
