Roméo et Juliette

À Vérone, où les Montaigu et les Capulet se vouent
une haine ancestrale, Roméo (fils de Montaigu)
est amoureux de Rosaline, tandis que Capulet
s'apprête à donner une grande fête pour permettre
à Juliette, sa fille, de rencontrer le comte Pâris
qui l'a demandée en mariage. Parce qu'il croit
que Rosaline s'y trouvera, Roméo se rend
au bal - et pour Juliette éprouve un coup de foudre
aussitôt réciproque. Sous le balcon de la jeune
fille, il lui déclare le soir même son amour puis,
le lendemain, prie frère Laurent de les marier
et de réconcilier leurs familles ennemies.
Mais la comédie va virer à la tragédie...
Si, dans cette pièce que Shakespeare compose
vers 1595, les amants de Vérone sont promis
au tragique, c'est qu'ils sont nés sous une mauvaise
étoile : ils ne sont victimes ni d'une faute
ni de leur amour, mais d'une suite de circonstances
malheureuses qui mettront à mort cet amour
et feront de leur histoire un mythe.
