About the author

David Womack is a California native and a longtime Laguna Beach resident. As a child, many years before stand-up paddleboards were invented, he spent his summers bodysurfing at El Morro Beach (now Crystal Cove State Park). These days he can often be found paddling around the reefs of Laguna Beach and the stand-up-surfing waves of south Orange County. David received his MFA in creative writing in 2005 from UC Riverside, where he wrote about things that had nothing to do with paddling and ocean sports. He is also an avid windsurfer and enthusiastic mountain biker, and sometimes he becomes preoccupied with puzzles. His first book, Mountain Bike! Orange County, was published by Menasha Ridge Press in 2007. His writing also has appeared in Littoral magazine and online.
