About the author

Nikhil Ranjan Jana is a senior professor at the School of Materials Science, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, India. He earned his undergraduate degree (1987) from Midnapore College, India and his masters (1989) and doctoral degrees (1994) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. Prof. Jana worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of South Carolina, USA (1999−2001) and the University of Arkansas,USA (2003) and as a scientist at the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, Singapore (2004−2008). His research group designed colloidal nanobioconjugates for controlling cellular processes and developed nanoprobes/nanodrugs for sub-cellular targeting/imaging and inhibiting amyloid aggregation under intra-/extra-cellular space. His group published 180 peer-reviewed research articles, which have approximately 25,000 citations, in internationally recognized journals.
