William Shakespeare, poet, playwright and actor, was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564, the son of a glover, merchant and justice of the peace. He attended grammar school and later went to London, where he worked hard on his career, becoming established as a dramatist by 1592. He he is generally regarded as the world's greatest English writer.John Heminges (1556–1630) was an actor in the King's Men, the playing company for which William Shakespeare wrote. Along with Henry Condell, he was an editor of the First Folio, the collected plays of Shakespeare, published in 1623. He was also the financial manager for the King's Men.
