Pop culture permeates how we live, move and in songs, movies, novels, memes and TV shows, the convictions and the most piercing questions of our generation are evident. Pop culture is a secular liturgy: the terrain where personal identity and collective memory are carved out, the set where the scenarios of possible futures are rehearsed.
Twenty-first century theology is faced with the titanic task of establishing a mediation between its foundational certainties and the frenetic experiences that surround us. Like every Christian generation throughout history, we are challenged to reenact--in a new setting and in the face of unknown challenges--the old story of salvation.
Pop Theology is the fruit of the searches and discoveries of an eclectic, curious, hyperconnected generation. It recovers the polyphony of young voices that sprout from the corners of all Ibero-America: 21 essays that speak from and towards the 21st century. It is a testimony of the faith of a generation that feels at ease among millenary texts and touch screens alike. Theological reflection --written by the new generations, from the global south and in our own language- is alive and kicking.
Being a book signed by many hands, all kinds of looks and questions coexist here. This multiplicity is the recognition that the Spirit blows where it wills (and the Church cannot do without this multiform grace).
About the author
Lucas Magnin nació en Argentina en 1985. Tiene una maestría en Teología, una licenciatura en Letras Modernas y otra en Comunicación. Desde hace años, busca relacionar de manera honesta la fe, el arte, la cultura y la academia. Sus textos han sido editados en antologías y publicaciones especializadas. Entre sus libros se encuentran: Arte y Fe: La estpiritualidad de creer y crear; La traición suprema: triunfo y vergüenza del cristianismo en el poder y Cristianismo y posmodernidad: La rebelión de los santos. Ha desarrollado una carrera como cantautor y publicado dos discos: Inocencia y Experiencia. Además, ha compartido escenario con artistas internacionales como Eros Ramazzotti, Il Divo, Ricardo Montaner, Luis Fonsi y David Bisbal. Está casado con Almendra e intenta todos los días seguir las pisadas de Jesús.
