About the author

Peter A. Abrams is Professor Emeritus, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada. He is recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher by ISI® and was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2005. His research interests include community ecology, biogeography, aquatic ecology, biodiversity, and species interactions. He is widely regarded as one of the leading theoretical ecologists of his generation.
