Investigations into a workplace fire incident can show a significant gap between management commitment and actual practice. This is attributed to the lack of fire safety preparedness. Prior evidences from Nigeria highlight the need for improvements in fire safety knowledge and preparedness. In light of such challenging evidences on the availability of fire safety equipment and citizen awareness of fire safety, this research believes that examining fire safety and its management in Nigeria is important. To achieve this, the primary aim of this research was to conduct an analysis of fire safety knowledge and preparedness amongst employees at Port Harcourt. The study adopted both open ended and closed ended questions to understand the fire safety standards and fire safety preparedness in Nigeria by targeting safety officers and firefighters.
