Synge and George Bernard Shaw who carved their initials into 160-year-old copper beech tree in Lady Gregory's walled garden, which became known as 'the Autograph Tree'.

Willie Henry is an historian, archaeologist and author of several titles including Coffin Ship, Hidden Galway, Famine; Galway's Darkest Years, Forgotten Heroes and Galway and the Great War. He lives in Galway.
