About the author

Miriam Cohen was an avid champion of the emotional rights of children, and was especially interested in their "immense vulnerability, and their need to be nurtured, encouraged, and allowed to unfold naturally." She spent many hours in classrooms reading, listening, and talking with children "not as a lecturer, but as a fellow writer." The time she spent in the company of children is one reason why her books ring true, and why young readers hear themselves in the voices of her characters. Yael Weinroth is a New York-based graphic designer and illustrator. Yael graduated from Touro College with a Bachelor's of Science in Digital Multimedia Design, receiving a Scholarly Achievement and Excellence Award in her field. Jacob's First Day is her debut into children's book illustration. With almost two years at ArtScroll Mesorah Publishing and numerous freelance projects under her belt, Yael's portfolio reflects her versatility and passion for storytelling through visual art.
