About the author

Dr. jur., Dr. rer. pol. et phil. h. c. Thomas Ellwein war von 1961 bis 1970 Professor in Frankfurt am Main, anschließend Direktor des Sozialwissenschaftlichen Instituts der Bundeswehr (München) und ab 1973 Präsident der Hochschule der Bundeswehr in Hamburg. Er lehrte von 1976 bis 1991 als Professor für Politik- und Verwaltungswissenschaften an der Universität Konstanz. Thomas Ellwein ist im Januar 1998 verstorben.

Prof. Dr. Ralf Zoll ist Professor für angewandte Soziologie an der Universität Marburg. Schwerpunkte seiner Forschung sind die politische Soziologie und die Soziologie der Räume.
