About the author










Paul Hill is a writer on photography and lecturer on the life and work of Eadweard Muybridge

Kazuo Nishi is a film and photography critic, and was Editor-in-Chief of the Japanese photography magazine Camera Mainichi from 1983 to 1985, and author of several books, including Why Still 'Provoke' Now? (1996).

Elisabeth Sussman was a curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston and the Biennale of Sydney.

James H Rubin is a teacher of art history at the State University of New York and the Cooper Union in New York City and author of Courbet (1997), Impressionism (1999) and Manet's Silence and the Poetics of Bouquets (1994).

Francesco Bonami is currently Manilow Senior Curator at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, and has recently been a member of the Advisory Board of the 2004 Carnegie International and a Curator of the 1993 Venice Biennale. His books include monographs on Atget, Paul Graham and Maurizio Cattelan, the latter published by Phaidon.
