Klappentext British and American anti-slavery societies were established in the 1820s and 1830s and from an early date included women campaigners. Typical of female abolitionists, the Weston sisters wrote, collected monies and signatures for petitions but rarely spoke in public or advocated a peculiarly feminist cause.
