About the author

Alfred Schlicht ging nach einer orientalistischen Promotion und wissenschaftlicher Tätigkeit an Forschungsinstituten und Universitäten in Deutschland und im Nahen Osten in den diplomatischen Dienst. Er war Stellvertreter des deutschen Botschafters in Jordanien und amtiert derzeit als stellvertretender Generalkonsul in Atlanta/USA. Alfred Schlicht ist Autor zahlreicher Veröffentlichungen zur Geschichte und Gegenwart des Nahen Ostens.

Dr. Ulrich Baumgärtner ( 1957) ist Privatdozent am Historischen Seminar der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Abteilung Didaktik der Geschichte, und Seminarlehrer (OStR) für Geschichte am Karlsgymnasium München.
