He's got no style, he's got no flash and hes squarely in middle age. But Swedish detective Martin Beck is good at one thing: methodically catching criminals so that they can be put away... for a long time. Beck's team meets their new boss as the body of a young woman is found in a Stockholm hotel room. Against Gunvald's advice, the boss insists on sending in a SWAT team and blames the disastrous results on Martin.
