Ulteriori informazioni

God''s Gold is a journey through history in which Dr. Sean Kingsley seeks out the fate of an estimated 50 tons of gold and silver plundered by Rome from the Temple of Jerusalem in 70 CE. These holy relics - a golden candelabrum, a pair of silver trumpets and the bejeweled Table of the Divine Presence - slipped through the hands of Pagan Romans, Arian Vandals and Byzantine Christians before finding a final resting place. Kingsley reconstructs pivotal moments in biblical history and explains how they were influenced by men''s desire for gold. With the thrill and the intrigue of a mystery and supported by an extraordinary amount of archeological research, God''s Gold remains exciting to the very end. Dr. Sean Kingsley is an archaeologist and historian. He holds a doctorate in the archaeology of Israel from Oxford University and is a Visiting Fellow at the Research Centre for Late Antique and Byzantine Studies at the University of Reading. He has been managing editor of Minerva, the International Review of Ancient Art and Archaeology, and is a contributor to the Times Higher Education Supplement. ''Kingsley''s bracing tale of religious intrigue grips the imagination.'' - Publishers Weekly
