Solar energy is an abundantly available natural resource; however it is highly time-dependent. Hence, the storage of thermal energy during sun shine hours will help to serve the demand during off-sunshine hours. This book presents the research findings on the performances of a forced convection solar air heater (FCSAH) using various thermal storage materials such as sand, gravel and iron scraps. The CFD simulation has been performed to study the effect of channel depth and to study the heat transfer of a flat plate solar air heater having different turbulent promoters such as iron and aluminum scraps on the absorber plate. In addition, neural network models (ANN and WNN) have also been developed. This book will be useful for the academicians and researchers to enhance their knowledge in FCSAH systems.

Dr. P.T.Saravanakumar received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai in 2015. He has obtained his Masters Degree in Energy Engineering from PSG College of Technology in 2001 and Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bharathiyar University in 1998 and. He has completed MBA from Bharathiyar University in 2015
