Estos insectos no tienen metamorfosis completa, al salir del huevo presentan la misma forma, y tienen las mismas costumbres, pero estan privados de alas y éstas se van desarrollando poco a poco despues de haber mu dado varias veces de piel. Por lo comun viven del jugo de los vegetales á los cuales causan á veces grandes per juicios, otros muchos son tambien carniceros y algunos de ellos chupan la sangre del hombre y de otros verte brados.
