This book provides a comprehensive, systemic review of gastrointestinal diseases associated with rheumatological and vasculitic conditions. Involvement of the GI tract in rheumatological disease can be devastating for patients, even more than the joint involvement itself, and there is little available literature on the subject.
The first part of the book discusses the involvement of the entire GI tract from oral cavity to anorectum, in anatomical order, and how to manage associated disorders. The second part addresses dietary and pharmacological interventions specific to patients with rheumatological disorders. It also addresses the side effects of common medications used to treat underlying rheumatological disorders and their effect on the GI tract, as well as future and investigational treatments to help patients.
