Liesbet Slegers was born in Belgium in 1975. She studied graphics and illustration at the St Lucas School of Arts in Antwerp and now works as a full-time graphic designer and illustrator. With her simple, recognizable style and vivid colors, she knows how to attract the attention of every toddler. In her many books, Liesbet frequently focuses on the first experiences of childhood, a time she characterizes as exciting but also very scary. She aims to help toddlers with her books and give their parents and teachers some assistance as well.

"The book was very informative for the children and had a lot of information for the children to explore. The pictures within the book helped to clarify some of the words that the children were unsure of ... This book was also helpful as it tied into our current class project of 'safety'. We were able to look at the various materials the Park Ranger needed and talk about why they would be useful and in what situations they would be needed. As a class we also looked at the different tools the Park Ranger had and discussed safety measures to use around the tools. "This book has bright, engaging and friendly illustrations. It also includes a good amount of information on park rangers and the work that they do. The dress and equipment of the rangers are described as are some of the many jobs that they do. For example, park rangers check on the forest after a storm. They may take people on nature walks. They also may have to decide if there are tress that need to be cut down.
Children may well be intrigued by the many facets of the ranger’s job. At the end of the book there is a quiz in which readers decide in what season a job may be completed.
