Rook Barkwater lives in the network of sewer-chambers beneath Undertown, the bustling main city of the Edgeworld. Paul Stewart arbeitete zunächst mehrere Jahre als Englischlehrer auf Sri Lanka. Zurück in England, unterrichtete er an Grundschulen. Seine Arbeit als Lehrer hat er aufgegeben, um sich ganz dem Schreiben zu widmen. Paul Stewart lebt mit seiner Frau und seinen beiden Kindern in Brighton.
Chris Riddell studierte Illustration in Brighton und hat zahlreiche Bilderbücher illustriert, hat aber auch schon eigene Geschichten veröffentlicht. Seine Figuren sind bekannt für ihren Witz und für die phantasievollen und faszinierenden Details. Chris Riddell schuf u.a. die Cover für die Kult gewordenen Bücher von Terry Pratchett. Er lebt mit seiner Familie in Brighton. Für seine Illustrationskunst erhielt er 2002 die Kate-Greenaway-Medal sowie den Smarties Book Prize Silver Award
